Thanks for the "atta boys" folks. As mentioned, no problem with those that are able to imbibe without problems. Booze is a huge part of the kilting scene, from socializing to sponsorships. God knows I'd love to have a Drambuie tartan kilt...but it was a favorite nightcap back in the wet days. Just want those of us who have found we can't touch the stuff anymore, and those of us who were wise enough never to use it, to know there are sober kilties about. The sad ones are those who didn't yet realize they had a problem and died from alcohol use. May they rest in peace. It is a joy to still be alive when we stop drinking.

    Ron,

    Congratulations and hang in there.

I am one of the lucky ones for whom it has no 'hooks'. I went the first 50 years of my life without it. I occasionally enjoy a dram now, but don't really care if I have it or not. Would that everyone was similarly affected.

Ron: No offense taken. I have a good friend who has been off-the-sauce for 11 years and is, rightfully, very proud of it. It has changed his life in many positive ways.

Congratulations to you! I can only guess how much strength, courage, and will power that required.
