    Quick! I need a fix.

Patience has turned to achy shaky jonesing, as an email from Bonnie this morning reports my kilt rebuild is nearly done, and I should have it back home shortly.

I bought it second hand a while back, I just fell in love with the tartan: Holyrood Golden Jubilee. However, although it was generally a good fit, it was two inches too long. I asked Bonnie for a top down rebuild, shortening the overall length and adjusting the fit a little. Sure, I could have hemmed the kilt, but dang it, I wanted it to be my kilt and not some obvious hand-me-down.

The tartan is a Lochcarron design, woven by them between 2002 and 2004, I'm told by the mill. I's no longer available, and not likely to be produced again, so finding a length of this tartan for a new kilt, or finding a used kilt in my size and length are not likely to happen. In my mind, the only way to have my cake and eat it to was to have it rebuilt.

I chose Bonnie to do the work based on good reviews here. I see no reason to doubt this will be anything less than another great piece. Bonnie has been very good about staying in touch.

    Pics when it arrives.

Congratulations on finding this kilt in a tartan that you like, and in such a rare tartan too. I am sure that you will be pleased with the kilt when you have it back after the alterations. Yes please, photos when you are able to post them.

If you need something to occupy the mind during the "Jonesing", divide the return postage by the number of days until the return of the kilt. Everyday translate, "the longer the wait, the cheaper the rate." Your anxiety costs less, minute by minute.

Adding a pic of the kilt opened up. You can see the excess tartan on the underside of the pleats cut away, a pillow ticking reinforcement added across the pleats, and the hair canvas used to give the kilt shape. The black lining doesn't appear in the picture.

ETA: don't know what happened, but when I added the second picture the main body of the post disappeared. Anyway, the kilt is done, as seen in the first picture, and it's going in the mail today. Maybe by the end of the week it will be here.

Not knowing what happened the last time I added a photo, I'll just make this new post with a pic of the sett.

It's in the mail. Estimated delivery Friday. Yeehaw!
