Aynsley, my best to you and Sara. PV is a good way to go, but I would keep an eye out for an ex hire kilt for a while. You may get lucky. Nice to know where "the black country" is.

Hi Aynsley and a warm welcome from sunny Queensland, from an erstwhile Midlander (left just over 5 years ago). Worked at Five Ways in Brum for many years.
I'll vote too for PV as the best substitute for wool and the best of that comes from Marton Mills. I vaguely recall some years ago, Midlands Today had a piece covering kilt outfits that John Lewis were selling - never saw one in the flesh, so to speak but might be worth checking to see if they are still doing them.
Congratulations to Sara and yourself on the upcoming wedding and wishing you a long and happy life together.
Regards, Sav.

Hi Aynsley,
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
So happy to hear you and Sara are working together on this. You will learn a lot about each other as you problem solve together.
You will find lots of info from the rabble by reading through previous posts, and, of course, you will get pertinent advice when you ask. There are lots here who have travelled the same road that you are on!
You could try checking the ex-hire company websites in the UK to see if they carry Black Watch kilts, then try emailing them asking if they have ex-hire kilts in your size available for sale.
NB - Check how they measure for their kilts and follow the directions to the letter. Different companies may use a slightly different method - and you want to know it will fit properly. (You don't want to make a great deal then find it doesn't fit!)
Companies may not always advertise everything and they may have just a few that they are willing to let go but don't want the hassle of dealing with hundreds of inquiries. It never hurts to ask. Focus on 'Ask and ye shall receive' when you hit the Send button - it is amazing how often this has worked! When something goes well, be sure to say 'Thank you, thank you, thank you!'

Thanks guys.
Currently investigating ex hire companies and it's looking hopeful.
If they fall down is there a UK source for a ready made marton mills pv?

Hello Aynsley from just a few miles south of you. I've only been to Cradley Heath a few times to watch the Heathens ride speedway at the old Dudley Wood stadium, back in the days of Erik Gundersen. One of the most competitive kilt makers I know of is Tartanweb, and I can fully recommend them. They only operate online and I don't know if they produce PV kilts or not. Anyway, congratulations on your forthcoming wedding and I hope you and your intended have a "Bostin" day.
The Kilt is my delight !
