A day at Joshua tree with my son

we went to Joshua tree national park for a day of hiking and fun. I was wearing a new hiking kilt which worked well except I forgot to use a pin and the wind picked up and my son who was taking the picture didn't seem to notice that the kilt was a wee bit high. One picture was useable and family friendly Click image for larger version.

ID:	24454. The rifle stock is a camera aide I made. It is a toy shotgun with it's barrels removed and a camera attachment added to it. It allows me greater stability than when I simply hand hold it. I tried a monopod this trip with a rifle attachment so I could lay the stock on it and it did make for a more stable non tripod shot. these are a few of the shots I took

ID:	24455 This was Cameron. He had a bit of trouble on this hike as it had multitudes of cholla and he stepped on small sections several times. I did once but didn't get any in my foot
there were chuckwallas and other lizards, blooming cactus and some cool bugs.

Nice pics, Grizzbass. Great to see the desert in bloom, and some fauna as well.

I like the rifle stock-camera setup you have. Good recycling idea without the price of the professional shoulder-butt attachments. Great pictures for sure.

Great pix, good to see the California state bird as well (or some variety of quail anyway).

Is there anything more beautiful than the high desert in the Spring? Thank you for some glimpses into rare beauty, grizzbass!

Hey grizzbass, thanks for sharing your pics. That looks like a place to put on the bucket list. Sweet idea too about the gun stock on your monopod for added support.
