I'd have to say informal day wear...

Also informal day wear; tweed jacket, sometimes with tie.

Casual day. As it's what I have at the moment. Never owned a sweater/jumper and never will, can't stand the things. Can't see a need for a day wear jacket either, not in this climate. If the weather is foul I have gear that will do. However, a black sporran, shoes and an appropriate jacket for evening/formal wear are probably in my future... as is a MacKenzie "modern" kilt to go with them.

Although not by any means my most frequent, I have to say my favorite is Formal Evening Wear.

I suppose that this is due to the fact that the older I get the more I dislike how informal our society is getting. I own more ties now than I ever have before.

For better or for worse the black Argyll has been the standard piper's dress for decades now, and being a piper that's what I usually wear for piping at weddings or funerals or what have you.

I have rebelled against the standard pipe band sporran that the vast majority of pipe bands wear- oh, I have one, and I have to wear it in the band- but I display my love for vintage Highland Dress by wearing a 100 year old cantle on a new goathair body which imitates a typical late Victorian/Edwardian look. That and the 100 year old pipes. This is how I appear at most gigs, more or less

I actually prefer dressing like this, and do when I think I can get away with it

BTW here's the black Argyll being worn by a piper many years ago
