The question of military TOSs did come up with tartan patches.
Some of us do wear them especially when hiking or walking for a charity, but there again we are Scottish Infantry Vets.

Fair enough that is fine, you are entitled so to do, although as civilians most veterans choose not to in my experience, on a day to day basis. However, we do need to remember most members of this website are not Scottish Infantry Vets.

As we are talking to a predominately US audience, many of whom have a military background, who have rather different traditions to us in the UK and we are talking about the Scottish kilt and its assorted attire in a civilian context. I do think that we are duty bound to try to not give the wrong ideas about kilt wearing traditions by planting inaccurate ideas in their minds!

    Jock Scot,

Agreed, but as a member of the Scottish American Military Society, I am often asked about Scottish Division dress.
I know what you mean about the dress. I was appalled this year during by an State Congressman. I thought he was a vagabond and I am not joking.
