How do I delete old messages?

Often in the past I have had to clear old personal messages out of my profile, but lately when I have tried to do so, it has not worked.
Either I have forgotten how to do it, or the software has changed and there is a method I have not yet learnt.
    Help, anybody?
    Regards,
    Mike

    1) Go to your user Control Panel (UserCP) by clicking the tab located in the top, dark blue, navigation bar near the top of every forum page .

    2) In your UserCP, look at the top window of the left banner. It is called "Messages". Click either "Inbox" or "Sent items".

    3) In the center banner you should now see a list of your messages.

    4) Select the messages you wish to delete by clicking the small box on the right.

    5) Scroll down to the bottom of the page, clicking the boxes of the messages you plan to delete.

    6) At the bottom of the message list (but above the Display Options box) you should see a clickable button labeled "Selected Messages (?). The number in parenthesis is the number of messages you have selected for some action.

    7) Click the "Selected Messages" button and an action options button should open. Select "Delete" by clicking it and then push "Proceed" in the bottom of the box.

Viola! the Selected messages are now gone. Repeat the above as many times as necessary for each additional page of messages in both "Inbox" and "Sent Items".

Many thanks, Steve. I had forgotten about clicking on “Selected messages”. Problem solved.

Thanks Steve, I had also been baffled by that.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
