Waterloo era 92nd (Gordon Highlanders) Outfit

Came across this reference to an outfit in the National Army Museum:

Uniform of 92nd Regiment of Foot, 1815 (c); worn by Lt John Bramwell who served with the regiment 1813-1817; items include a coatee, kilt, plaid, sporran, shako, breeches, three shirts a shoulder belt, a valise and a book of standing orders.

I'd heard that they had an old Gordons' outfit, certainly much older than anything at the Regimental Museum, but have never seen any pics. Only two items are available online - the sporran and Shako, so it'll need to be a visit to London to examine the kilt. Ironicaly, I'll be there tomorow for a meeting but as luck would have it, the NAM is closed until 2016 for renovation.

    Good News

Outstanding news......! I contacted the Gordon Highlanders Museum to see what they know of it only to discover that they have it on show until Nov as part of the Road to Waterloo events. Must make time to take a trip to Aberdeen

I've manged to get hold of the NMA accessition entry for the outfit. The kilt is described as box pleated and fastened with three pairs of green silk ribbons. The plaid is described as pleated into a green silk ribon band with tie straps. Looking forward to getting my hands on them.

Not yet. I'll probably wait until Nov when the display is broken down and I can actually get time to review it in detail. I will of course share what I find.

Never got up to Aberdeen but the NAM have been very helpful in sending me some pictures, very interesting, and I have an open invitation to see the outfit when next in London with some time on my hands.
