Hello everyone! Kilt wearer from Texas

I am currently living in Fort Worth TX. I'm 41 and started wearing kilts around 3 years ago when I bought one from a shop at the Scarborough rennasaince festival. My family heritage is irish but I like to think that anyone can wear a kilt. I fell in love with how comfortable they are to wear and how much confidence they give you! I now have a complete jakobite outfit to wear at the ten fair and I have 2 other utility kilts I have worn to work at the Navy base. I also wore it to Dallas Comic Con and convinced a friend to get one as well!

EDIT: My surname is McDearmont. Our great grandfather got angry at the family and changed the spelling we were McDermott's before then!
I was looking up history and found reference to MacDiarmada which is cool as my kilt pin and broch pin match.

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. Maczimus,

Welcome from central Indiana. You tell us that your heritage is Irish, but I wonder, might you have a little Roman in you too? Your name sounds like you might. Welcome and keep on kilting.

Well met new friend. Sounds like you had good first adventures in kilting. Glad you have a friend near by to share some times with in person. Hope to see more participation from your direction in the future. Welcome from Ole Miss.
