    Antiqued Hanwei basket sword

    Greetings fellows,

I'm searching for an antiqued Hanwei basket-hilt sword. I know some frown upon weapons in this forum. I don't care so much if it's the broadsword or the backsword. Please contact me if you know of a place I can still find one as, from all my searching, they are discontinued. Sadly I had one and it was stolen from my camp many years ago. I'd love to find another!

    Thanks,
    Oberu

Actually we do not frown upon weapons.

But the chosen topic of this forum is not weapons, it is kilts.

All we frown upon is when the discussions are turned away from our chosen topic and the focus becomes the weapon.

To give you an example of this sort of thinking I'll ask - did you also post your want ad on any of the hundreds of sword forums? I would bet that you would get more responses on a sword forum than you would on a kilt forum. Just as I would bet you would not get many responses on a sword forum if you asked if anyone had a kilt.

All we have ever asked is that we keep to our chosen topic.

But I do wish you luck and hope one of our members can help you.

Is this what you are looking for?

    http://www.kultofathena.com/product....Hilt+Backsword

It shows as in stock, and yes I have dealt with them on several occasions. They provide good service and a reasonable price.

    Tomak,

I think Oberu is looking for the antiqued version of the Hawei broadsword and backsword (the finish of the hilt and scabbard are different than the standard ones). Unfortunately Hanwei discontinued them. This is what the backsword looks like.

It is a fine sword. I have to say I think Steve's suggestion of a sword forum (or maybe eBay) might be more successful as I have seldom seen anyone on XMTS selling a nice sword.

Good Luck with your search Oberu!

    Cheers

AHHHHH...I missed the "antiqued" reference in his request. The site I posted has both the broadsword and backsword, but does not have the antiqued version. Might be still worth contacting them and see if they have one lying around.

I like Kult of Athena, my sword was purchased from them a few years back. Good service.

    Cheers

    You might try these...

A quick Google search produced these... I've not dealt with either vendor, so caveat emptor.

Thanks fellows! I looked into the site in Ausie land but wow.. they want nearly double what they asked for that sword when it was new here in the US. I've thought about making one several times. Perhaps that's my best bet.
