    Hi from the central plains

Hello to one and all. I first became interested in kilts in the early 70's when I was stationed in Seoul and saw some highland troops at the UN command center. That interest lay dormant for over 40yrs when my oldest grandson was initiated in a local masonic lodge. His soon to be stepfather was also in attendance wearing a kilt. While talking to him I found out that his grandmother was a war bride but I forgot the family name. Two years ago my grandson got his own kilt and the bug took hold again. Finally saw the Marine tartan and saved my pennies for my own clan Jarhead tartan kilt. I must say I'm quite satisified with the experience so far. I'm hesitant to get a utility kilt since they all seem like they'd be too long, I only measure out at 21" in length. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Welcome aboard Gunny from a swab jockey! I have the same length issue here with the "off the rack" kilts. If you have a sewing machine, an iron, hemming skills and a couple hours time it is pretty easy to crop, pick out a couple inches of the peat edge sew downs, re-hem and then re sew the pleat edges of most utility kilts. If not a tailor can do it.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.
