Alaska State Troopers on Nat Geo

I was watching a couple of the shows Alaska State Troopers on Nat Geo the other day. They were paying tribute to the fallen troopers at the end of the 2013 season. Noted a fellow in a kilt that appears to the the Alaska State Seal tartan from USA Kilts. The fellow wearing the kilt appeared to be part of the memorial. Another thing of interest to note was that he was wearing two feathers.

Any clue as to who he is and what he represents?

    Thanks

    Aaron

The Alaska State Seal is worn by the Anchorage Pipe band, but they only received their kilts a couple months ago, so I don't believe the person was wearing the Alaska State Seal tartan if the episode was shot in 2013. That would be cool if they did get on the show though!

Thanks Rocky. I will see if I can grab a screen shot. If it isn't the Alaska State Seal it is in the same colour range.

Absolutely... I'd love to see it if it's even remotely close. The AK SS tartan is pretty unique compared to most tartans, so I'd love to see another in the same color range! It's one of my favorites from our SS collection.

I'm not sure if this is the same event, but there's a piper in a kilt on the far right side of the frame in the first minute of this video. The best view of the kilt starts at 35 seconds, and doesn't last very long

I snagged the photo of the piper from the video. Here it is.

Save your ears and mute the sound when the piper plays - he and his pipes are not ready for public performance.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

Could be because his pipes got cold--it is Alaska.

It looks to me like one of the Alaska Highlanders. Probably their Pipe Major. I believe his name was Henderson. I lived up there for 14 years and saw the local bands quite frequently so I recognized the uniform.

I believe this is the tartan.

That would be Dan Henderson, Pipe Major with the Alaska Highlanders. He play for almost all of the Military, and City (Police, Fire) Events and Memorials. Here is a link to a clear pic of the tartan.
