Temporarily Closing the Queue To New Orders As Of 9/June/2015-
Update:
Hello all,
While I was originally hoping to reopen the queue to new orders last month I am forced to keep it closed until at least the start of 2016.
Unfortunately, I have been dealing with a Repetitive Stress Injury for all of 2015, and even with frequent breaks for stretching and such it continues to get worse.
(which is part of the reason my queue is taking so long to work through)
I will be emptying the queue completely, then taking a bit of rehabilitation time to heal before reopening for new orders.
NOTE: this does NOT effect any existing deposited orders, this is for new enquiries only.
Thank you all for your patience while I slog through this.
Original Post:
This last year and a half has been a complete whirlwind. I have been doing bigger and more complex commissions than I'd dreamed of just a few years ago. And I have many of you to thank for this!
One unfortunate side effect of this success is that my queue has extended out beyond the point where I am comfortable adding to it further- so for the time being I will not be taking new orders.
This does not effect anything already on the books/deposited, and I will obviously honour any recent quotes that may be hanging around.
My hope is to re-open the queue to new orders in late July or early August.
I simply want to give every order the attention it deserves, and I'd prefer to not make commissioners wait an indefinite amount of time until I get to their sporran.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

PS: keep an eye peeled, there are new works rolling off the bench that I'll be posting up in the next few weeks

Glad I got my beautiful sporran when I did then. Perhaps it's time to take on an apprentice? Or press the family into service?

Good decision !! Your customers will appreciate it !!

I know from talking to Scott at the Milwaukee Games that I have the dubious distinction of being the last man in the queue.

Yes I'm very glad I got the sporran I did, when I did.
It's the price of success, I suppose.
It's the rule, rather than the exception, in the world of uilleann pipe making. Most if not all the highly-regarded makers have "closed their books".
One maker closed his book when his queue reached 10 years, saying "I don't know if I'm still going to want to be doing this, in ten years!"
Ten-year queues are common.

An honour, and one which carries a burden of responsibility, to proudly wear your sporran whenever possible!

Master Artificer, I have gone way back in the DIY forum and read the threads from when you were making your first sporrans. Obviously you had much talent, even then. To get from there to where you are now is a monumental achievement, and you have my admiration and congratulations.

The responsibility is greater than you know; the sporran will be made specifically for my first Matt Newsome kilt!

Yes the honour and responsibility are doubled!
Now what if you ordered hand-knit bespoke hose too.... wow.
