For those of us with Irish ancestors, a great site is YourIrishHeritage.com. The host of that site is very knowledgeable about ancestry, and places. He will answer your questions, about your family names. He has written several books, (available on Amazon), which I want to get. I wish someone would do the same thing, that he does, for people of Scottish descent.
