    "Kilted killer"

    Hello all
I have recently learnt of a remarkable man and I searched the forum for his name and surprisingly he hasn't ever been a topic. This man puts James Bond to shame it's none other than a highland laddie named Tommy Macpherson. I have read a few articles and he wrote a autobiography which I'm itching to read.
Here's a few links to read about this great man and his heroic deeds during WW2

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...-soldiers.html

    And a Wikipedia link
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Macpherson

His book he wrote is called "Behind enemy lines"

    Happy reading

    This is a fascinating read!

When I saw the book title, I mistakenly thought of the 2001 movie of the same name.

    great stories to share

I have heard of him before (but not the book thanks) and so apparently have a few others, there is a wargame figure company that makes a figure for him.

Interesting! Do you have a link to that company or the figure itself?

There may be others among us, but both Jock Scot and I met the late Sir Tommy and have huge respect for him and his memory.

http://us-store.warlordgames.com/col...s-nwe-sections There is a UK (the company's headquarters) unfortunately they don't sell him as an individual figure I don't believe.

    Title

Using "kilted killer" as the thread title is an insulting way to refer to Mr. Macpherson, who was a gentleman and a genuine hero. My opinion.

Yes, Sir Tommy was a capable and energetic businessman, a thoughtful and contributing community member in London and Badenoch, a fine family man, and a powerful and dedicated soldier. He wore a kilt and was acknowledged as a 'hero', but none who knew him would ever have referred to this old-school gentleman as a 'kilted killer' and he doesn't deserve to be remembered with that moniker.

I must admit I was somewhat taken aback by the title of this thread. Let us be brutally frank here, a soldiers very purpose is to impose the will of their Country on others and whether we like it or not killing is part and parcel of a soldiers duty when the need arises. Let us also not forget that the Allied forces at that time were up against one of the most evil regimes that the world has ever seen, who, amongst many shocking deeds, had absolutely no compunction in deliberately waging war on women and children, not only from their own country, but also, those from other countries that they forcibly occupied and then administered their ill gotten gains brutally, or tried to occupy, with no thought for anyone other than themselves. These people dealt in death on an industrial scale.

I applaud Tommy Macpherson----------who was very modest over his exploits and never once, in my hearing at least, apologised for his actions and why should he?------------ as I applaud all those that took up arms against such an appalling tyrany as each and everyone of them did their duty as best they could.
