Is it considered excessive if one wears multiple clan crest accessories?
Back in my Highland Dancing days, the only clan crest accessories I wore while dancing was a cap badge and a kilt pin. These days I'm seeing more and more accessories with clan crests such as sporrans, belt buckles, and other items. Can one overdo it with wearing multiple clan crest accessories at the same time? Will that be seen as excessive? How many clan crest items do you wear at the same time?

Short answer, yes! You are wearing several yards of Clan tartan around your waist how much more does one want to say who you are? A Clan bonnet badge is enough and anything more really does get tiresome.

I would have to agree with Jock . The tartan of my kilt identifies me / my Clan , other than that I seldom wear a Clan crest item . If I am wearing head gear such as a Balmoral bonnet or a Glengarry then I do wear a Clan crest cap badge
Occasionally , I might wear a Clan crest lapel pin , but it depends on the occasion .
In general , when it comes to Clan crest accessories , I humbly think that less is more .
Cheers , Mike

I agree with Jock here, you're wearing your clan tartan, I like the finished look of a bonnet with a crest on it, more than that I feel appears you were sucked into buying tourist clan trinkets.
Ever seen someone wearing a full warmup suit from Adidas or Nike with matching hat and shoes? Looks sort of ridiculous doesn't it??

Yes. Why ever have anything more than a badge on your bonnet? Then, leave the bonnet at home half the time!

I am in agreement with the others here. In fact, since I do not feel a particularly close connection with any of the clans I am related to through the family tree I tend to wear a neutral cap badge like a Rampant Lion or a Thistle.

I agree with the above, the only Clan crest stuff I have are my bonnet badge and I also have a kilt belt buckle with my Clan crest though I never wear them at the same time.
On another note I notice your avatar is a Scottish Wildcat, I was wondering if you were aware of the Scottish Wildcat Tartan?

I agree with the crew, however; I will say that the wearing of the clan badge ad nauseum tends to be something newbies do. At least I did, after I bought my first kilts. As a clan convener I still wear the badge but I'm no longer wearing it every where I possible could. I remember looking for a sgain, buckle, patch for my jacket etc. Luckily I overcame that particular fetish. It is on my cap (which doesn't matter as I am so hot natured I rarely wear it). If I'm representing the clan at a function, I will wear my clan badge kilt pin. If not, I'll usually wear a thistle one.
At least I haven't fallen into another fetish I see frequently; that is wearing a badge for every clan you have an affiliation with, no matter how remote, all at the same time. That one bothers even me.

I actually don't wear any. I let my tartan speak to my clan and I wear a nice metalized version of our plant badge in my Balmoral.
Less is more is my personal choice.
