Canvas alternative to leather sporran suggestion

I have looked at a fair amount of sporrans and have not cared for the look, design or price of them. Then I got to thinking about my paintball playing days and the many trips to the army surplus store. Then it hit me, canvas two pocket ammo pouch. The one I have is od green. I'd post a picture but I don't know how yet. Googling two pocket ammo pouch, yields a lot of ways and places to purchase for less than $15. they also come in black and camo etc.
I just wear it on my belt, but one might be able to attach it more like a traditional sporran if they wish. a nice alternative , maby not so traditional as a sporran. Let me know your comments on this, if you try it, and like it or not. Or brainstormed up another cool alternative.

If it churns your butter, I say go for it. There have been ammo packs shown as sporran alternatives on former posts. I remember they were used with utility kilts and did look like they belong with the ensemble.

I'm a leather man myself, but admits science does wonderful things in the "pseudo-pelt" genre. If I hunt down those pictures I mentioned before, I'll post the link.

I typed "ammo pouch" in the search box on the top right corner of this page. I scrolled down through the thread listings until I saw a familiar title. Here is a picture of inactive member Fearnest with his ammo sporran.
He is wearing a US Army tartan, is a former airborne member and the photo was taken at a shooting range. I think he pulls off the look well considering his environment.

Depending on your style, admin pouches like this one can work great too. I have one that's similar, but with a zipper instead of a flap, and it would make a perfect sporran.
