    New casual kilt.

Got this today and my wife asked me not to wear it because we took our 12-year-old son and his friend on a trip to a seaport. She said it may embarrass our son in front of his friend. I said it would only embarrass him if she said something to make him think there was something wrong with it, and kept it on. When the kid's mother dropped him off, I answer the door myself so that the mother would see it herself, in case her son mentioned it. It was a nice day and we had a good time.

Photos are by my 9-year old son.

Educating the masses (always starting at home) is the best way to increase the acceptance of kilting and other non-traditional ideas. Good for you with your instinct to remain steadfast.

    Very nicely done. Looks good.
Your son did a fine job with the photos, too.

    Nice way to handle things.

On a side note, your son takes excellent pictures.

    Good on you

I think you look great, if others have an issue with you wearing a kilt that is their problem.

    Thank you everyone.

Today we had several Girl Scout families come over to camp out in our yard and go boating. I was not going to wear the kilt in case my wife minded, but then I realized that I wanted to wear it today no matter what I was doing because I just got it, and it seemed silly to avoid wearing it just because a bunch of people I don't know are coming over. So I wore it. My wife didn't say anything. None of the girls said anything. None of their parents said anything. None of my kids said anything. It was not even a conversation starter.

BTW, I have felt zero anxiety with this one from the start. It was only the Elkommando that I felt some with, and still do - because it does not have enough cues that identity it as a male garment. That is the one that takes some guts to wear. Not this one in my opinion.

I haven't mentioned this before although there have been other similar images, but I (for me) just think a kilt without kilt hose looks like it's missing something.

True, and I was going to wear shorts because it seemed too hot to wear leather shoes and knee-high socks. But then I said to myself that was silly and why not wear the kilt with the same socks and shoes that I was going to wear with the shorts? This is not a formal kilt - it is made from cotton canvas.
