Mine is a hand sown 8 yard 13oz Cameron Modern from Locharron. I've lost a bit of weight and now must move my buckles and straps.

I’ll add my handmade 8 yard, 16 oz. Lochcarron modern MacLaren to the thread. It is the only kilt I own, by the way. I’ll probably be buried in it.

When I first came across this thread I didn't even own a kilt. Now I have two--a 10 yard (that's what the maker claimed), hand and machine sewn, 16 ounce Scotland's National woven by Marton Mills and a four yard, 16 ounce, box pleated Black MacSween from Matt Newsome.

I do not want to be buried in my kilt. Despite the fact that I probably make about the same annual income as a homely truck stop waitress, I bought the best (or as close as I could get). I bought kilts that I knew could be handed down to my children and grandchildren...as kilts have been handed down since time out of mind.

I don't think...my opinion only...that many canvas kilts will be family heirlooms.
