    Soften Sporran Leather

I have a sporran and the leather is very stiff and I can keep the snap fastened. I have kept it stuffed with paper to try and get it to stay more open but the leather is to stiff to snap it.

What can I do and not harm the horse hair?sporran-2-M.jpg

    Thanks

I would try mink oil or neatsfoot oil on the leather, making sure it doesn't get on the hair portion. It may take several applications to soak in deep enough to make the leather more supple.

Two things that work great are Ballistol and Spaulding baseball glove softener. Easy to use and non colour altering, won't hurt hair. We used both on new and older dried out leather, never a problem.
