Hi Rob and a warm welcome from sunny Queensland!

You might try Wales as a link to your name, there are lots there, though usually spelt Davies.

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials - A long and happy life to you both .

Do practice wearing a kilt before your wedding if you haven't worn one before .
    Regards, Sav.

Welcome to you from Southwestern Ontario. I echo WillowEstate's observation. Davis is commonly Welsh, and there are some welsh tartans you might like to look into.

Thank you, yes the Davies kilt is a stunner, I have a tie in the tartan and it's beautiful. It's been very hard to resist, but Welsh kilts are typically quite costly, and I hesitate to spend the big bucks on a starter kilt when I've never worn one. All in due time.

My Davis family history kind of disappears after my paternal grandfather (in a nutshell he was raised by strangers and we don't know much). It's a very safe assumption to say the surname is Welsh, as I have done most of my life, but we don't truly know for sure unfortunately.

But also of note is my Dutch heritage. The Dutch Friendship kilt is gorgeous as well. I've got such a wealth of choices, and it's a very good problem to have, I suppose!

I lived in Lincolnshire for three years, just north of Sleaford and south of Lincoln city. Beautiful countryside!

    Hi,

I am also retired USAF and purchased my kilt from USA Kilts. I am fairly new to wearing a kilt, but I was impressed by the workmanship and look for the finished kilt in 8-yd wool.

    Best of Luck!
