29th Annual Celtic Classic Highland Games & Festival, Bethlehem, PA

The 2016 Celtic Classic in historic downtown Bethlehem, PA is now over and was a great success. The weather was perfect, the competitions were exciting, the entertainment was great and the beer was cold. There a lot of people in attendance on Saturday when my wife and I attended but, this venue handles large crowds well. Each year that we attend this event, we like it more. Though I had my X Marks dandelion in my lapel, the only other XMTS I met was Rocky at the USA Kilts booth (and boy, was he busy).

    Here are a few pictures!

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. A few more photos from the 29th Annual Celtic Classic in Bethlehem, PA

OK, here are a few more photos from this years Celtic Classic in Bethlehem, PA. Note Rocky's USA Kilts booth is well guarded including a Kilted Kop. Also included are some shots of the 100 year old Worcester Kiltie Pipe Band which won the Grade 3 Pipe and Drum band competition. After the awards ceremony, they gave an amazing impromptu concert in the street.

A couple of other odds and ends!

    First Time

It was my first time attending the Celtic Classic, and was there Sat/Sun. Clearly, it's a much loved and well-attended community event. I was also finally able to "meet the makers" of two-thirds of my kilts (USAKilts of course).

I ended up not being able to go (it would have been my first time), but that is my band, Saffron United, all the way on the right, in the Millennium National kilts.

Thank you for sharing - this only makes me more dedicated to making it next year!Rob

I wish I had seen you, Nile! I was there, but in Foy Hall, participating in the highland dance competition.

After it was over, I walked around for a while, enjoying the beautiful day, the music and the crowds of people, many of them in kilts and tartan.

Your pictures are great! Thanks for sharing them!
