    Under apron question

I am not sure if it is the right term but I have a question regarding the under apron on a kilt.

I have made a few kilts now but sometimes have a problem with the end of the under apron on the kilt folding when I walk. Not the entire apron, but just the corner folding on the knee and not always sitting flat when I walk.

Is there a way to prevent this? Do I need to make the under apron longer or tapered?

The most common reason for the under apron doing what you are describing is that the under apron is too narrow. The aprons of a kilt should be slightly wider than 1/2 of the waist circumference. The aprons should then be tapered or wider at the hem than at the waist.

This means that at the thighs the sides of the aprons wrap around the legs and don't get caught as your legs move.

The under apron left edge should be in the same relative position on the left leg as the outer apron right edge is on the right leg. At the hem, the bottom apron tips should be half way around the outer parts of the legs.
