That made me think of the Billy Connelly joke about the Scots emigrating to New Zealand.
They landed on the north island and decided it was too warm and sunny so kept going south till the got to Invercargill, it was cold wet and miserable "perfect" they said, and thats where they've settled for the last 200 years.

Weather on the Sechelt Peninsula in British Columbia is 4C, cloudy/clearing, 87 percent humidity. Weather at Tomatin, south of Inverness, is 4C, rain, 65 percent humidity. Hard to chose where to live this month.
