    Fascinating documentary. Thank you for posting.

    Pray tell, can anyone tell me what they were doing with the fabric at the end of the video? It looks like they were breaking it in, but to what purpose? The method seemed very ritualized.

    I cannot see the film, but from what you describe with the cloth softening treatment the term is known as,"waulking."

    Looks different than my younger than '43 recall - though not by much in some cases. Nathan should recognize a few places, if not a few past faces.

    The milling frolic is something I only witnessed once. Definitely a social event though not the well dressed group as in the film. It was a practical thing, to break the newly woven cloth with those around the table presenting themselves well but not in Sunday best. Conversation, music, food and drink a definite.
