First Bonedd Gwŷr y Gogledd https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonedd_Gwŷr_y_Gogledd is an old Welsh text about people who came from Yr Hen Ogledd https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hen_Ogledd, or the old north, into Wales during the Anglo-Saxon Wars. Many of the royal families in Wales and some Scottish clans have claimed to be descended from men listed in the text.

I know the accuracy of Bonedd Gwŷr y Gogledd is debated, and that's not the point of this post.

What I am wondering is if anyone knows about any badges or tartans designed with Hen Ogledd or Bonedd Gwŷr y Gogledd in mind other then the Goddin mab Gododdin personal tartan found at https://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/ta....aspx?ref=1442

I think it would be nice to have a cap badge that fits my family history to replace the generic cap badge I currently have. I think that any tartans would most likely be listed as fashion or universal tartans. Until recently, around 2002, Welsh tartans were more fashion tartans without a family name or clan/tribe link. The older Welsh tartans are commonly seen in pictures on aprons, scarves, and sometimes vests/waistcoats and ties.

If there are no Hen Ogledd or Bonedd Gwŷr y Gogledd tartans I think it would be nice to design one and see if it can be listed in the Scottish Register of Tartans. If I do this I would want the thread count listed for anyone to be able to weave the tartan.

My family tree is traced thought Bonedd Gwŷr y Gogledd into Rheged and I know I am not alone in that. Although most Welsh genealogies do not go back this far, I suspect that others have looked into this when researching family history.
