Normally I wear my Clan Badge, but if I am going to the games or something were I know military vets will be I will wear my
US Coast Guard headwear badge. I am a very proud U.S. Coast Guard Veteran.

I have no cap badge yet, but I'm hoping to purchase the US Army badge from the Celtic Croft some time soon.

I have several, so I wear what either matches the tartan or the occasion. If I'm wearing Macneill tartan I wear the clan badge. If I'm attending as a member of the Scottish American Military Society (SAMS), I wear their badge, regardless of the tartan of my kilt at the time. If I wear the Freemason Universal tartan, I wear the masonic cap badge. See my avatar for an example of the latter.

I'm sure that just muddies the discussion even further. That's what I do.

If I may ask, why clan badge instead of your own arms?
