Order placed. Thus begins the awful wait.
I just placed my order for my first kilt. Whoopie Me!
Ordered a Barleyjuice patterned Philbeg (what's the phoenetic pronunciation of that anyhow?) from USA Kilts. I'm eccstatic. My in-laws came through with the birthday check for me this week. My father was going to, begrudgingly, buy the kilt. But I told him.
"Roy and Dana took care of buying me the kilt, so you don't have to worry about that. You can buy me a pair of manly Doc Marten's to go along with my skirt."
He got a kick out of that. Wrote on the check "not for skirt-buying." But I think he's amused.
He did give me the Irish surnames on his side of the family that I wasn't aware of. The family was a band of horsethieves, so there's not much information on them as they up and dissappeared in the middle of the night on many an occasion.

Happy birthday,
If Graham is anything to go by .You'll have your kilt within a week. Rocky has to send Grahams to Tazmania.
Which Doc Martins are you thinking about buying ?
Post some pic's when your kilt arrives
All the best of luck with your new kilt......David

Even if they don't get started on it this weekend, I expect I'll have it by end of next week. Yeah. I hope to have it by Saturday (7 days) to wear to the Md Renn Faire.
I've been looking at Doc's online. This is something I'll probably want to wear nearly all of the time. I can get away with wearing them at work. Something in a 10 eye height. There's a pair listed on their site with a steel toe. I just don't know if I want to wear steel toes ALL the time. I'll probably just go to the mall here and browse. But most definitely something in a high-ankle length.
Edit: to say "weekend" instead of "week"

Freelander is right, you'll not be waiting long for a fine kilt.
Is Barleyjuice related to Jimmy's band?

It is indeed. I e-mailed him about it. Apparantly, it's not a "real" tartan. But a pattern the band sort of adopted. Jimmy can correct me if I'm wrong here.
I figured best to go with a non-tartan for my first. Since I haven't really decided which I would like and want to have an "explaination" for anyone that asks.
And my wife didn't want me in a solid.

The only explaination you need is you like it. Knowing which tartan it is is gravy.

The wait for non-victory kilts is pretty dang short, I waited 2 1/2 weeks for my victory, which by kilt stadards is pretty short! Nice choice.

That's good to know. That, and all the great things I've heard about Rocky's kilts sold me on getting his first.
I think today will go much easier. I'm working with my other co-worker. This guy's interested in kilts as well. The guy I worked with yesterday just doesn't "get it." Even though I showed him the pics of the Eagles players in the Amerikilts.
The gentleman I'm working with today is a huge Arsenal fan. I'm going to try to get him in a two-tone kilt in the team colors.
