    Greetings from the Philippines!

Hi guys! I'm Brian and I live in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. I got my first kilt, a Black Watch, as a gift from a friend who went on vacation in Scotland, and I've been hooked ever since. After that a bought a 5.11 Tactical Duty Kilt to use as an everyday working kilt. Luckily enough, my sister who lives in the outskirts of London saw that I was really fascinated with kilts, then gave me a Pride of Scotland as a birthday gift.

Thank you very much for the warm welcome Father Bill. I hope to learn more about kilts and how to wear them properly in the hopes of not embarassing myself and the Scotish people.

Well met Brian. I wish I could get a gift as cool as a kilt from my sister. All I ever got was grief and hugs. Welcome to the group.

I expect a kilt would be useful in the tropical climates of the islands, except during monsoon season. What are your thoughts on that area?

That's what I've been telling people who ask me "why do you wear a kilt?", because its breezy ! It hasnt been a problem during typhoon season, with the length being at the knees and a good kilt pin to keep it down.

In the Philippines, the traditional indigenous people wear a "bahag" in the northern regions, which is much like a g-string.

In the southern regions the traditional garb would be a "malong", much like a continous wrap-around garment.

The problem i have with our traditional wear is that it doesnt go well with shoes.

If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
