Won in 2016 by Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band from Northern Ireland. Good luck to them and all the bands in this year's competition.

The pipe band world is anxious to see where SFU place at the Worlds this year, after their shocking result from the British Championships, their lowest-ever placing in a "major".

And to continue to be amazed by the meteoric rise of Inveraray.

Result from the British Championships, held in May (2017)

    Grade 1 (MSR, 16 competed)
    1st Inveraray & District (Scotland) (2,1,2,2)
2nd Field Marshal Montgomery (Northern Ireland) (1,3,3,1)
    3rd Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia (Scotland) (4,2,7,3)
    4th St. Laurence O’Toole (Eire) (5,6,1,5)
5th Police Scotland Fife (Scotland) (3,4,12,4)
    6th Scottish Power (Scotland) (6,7,4,7)

The two North American entries were
    Triumph Street 8th
    SFU 12th

We're used to seeing FFM, SFU, Shotts, SLOT, and Glasgow Police in the top places. Things have evidently changed.

    World Pipe Band Championships

I will be at the Worlds next Saturday with my wife and two guests from Germany.
We plan to be at the Grade 4B competition at 10:50am for Clan Cunningham's "official" pipe band, Colum Cille, from Cape Cod, Massachussetts, and at the Grade 3B competition at 12:50 for OCRichard who is playing with the Kevin Blandford Memorial Pipe Band. Is anyone else going. If so maybe we can say hello at some point during the day.
