I'm a big fan of L&M Highland Outfitters (Nova Scotia). They carry on the classic styles and old-school craftsmanship, and have done some nice innovations as well. Congrats on your lovely sporran!

Here's a nice Evening Wear sporran, one of the classic styles I call the "canon". It appears to have a silverplated cantle. I do believe the fur is bovine, which the Scottish sporranmakers would use in place of sealskin for their sporrans intended for the US market. It has the typical classic gold oval stamp "Made In Scotland".

In any case a nice quality Scottish-made sporran for around $50.

Here's a style one doesn't often see, blending elements from a Hunting sporran and an ordinary leather Day sporran with a fur front:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sporran/392...temCondition=4

So you have the ordinary plaited Day sporran leather tassels rather than the flat leather tabs usually seen on Hunting sporrans.

It's less than $50 including post.

Beware that the fur is seal, and subject to seizure if posted to the USA.

Also from Oban, a Made In Scotland stamped plain brown leather vintage Day sporran for less than $30 including post.

In the USA, a Made In Scotland animal mask sporran for well under $100

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-SPO...temCondition=4

Here's a superb quality hair sporran from WE Scott Edinburgh for a fraction of what a new sporran like this would cost

So here is the sporran I purchased from the e . bay listing from OCRichard's original post two years ago. Put on your sunglasses, it was evening but I got those lily white legs. Only thing that might save them is I have dark hair!

I ended up at $90USD including shipping. The original listing described it as horsehair but according to L&M (https://www.landmhighland.ca/product...dress-sporran/) it is calf with badger fur tassels. I was aware of the difference at the time of bidding. Either way it is very soft The chain is much more substantial than my other sporrans (one likely pakistani and the other made in Scotland) as is the leather portion of the strap. The seller was rhea 2013 and I was very pleased with the transaction.

So a very belated thank you to OCRichard!

Lovely outfit there! Looks like the 'peat' tweed jacket that House Of Edgar makes, and the Cheviot 'bison' hose, which look great together. (I've not seen those worn together before.) Thanks for sharing about that sporran.

At the moment on Ebay there are loads of Scottish-made sporrans. One seller in the UK named Starkey has several sealskin Evening sporrans for around $100 but of course they're a no-no for US buyers.

This one has little stones on the cantle, presumably imitation Amethysts, pretty cool. It's by WE Scott Edinburgh.

Here in the USA, a lot of five Scottish-made sporrans with an opening bid of $100, no bids, and a BIN of $150.

There's a seller dereburc with some interesting Hunting sporrans, this one in particular has a certain vintage feel to it

Thank you and good eye on both the jacket and hose ! And thanks again for the tip on the sporran. It really is a quality piece and was a great price. The worst part is not having anywhere fancy to wear it.
