Quality Sporrans for less money

Leather & seal sporran, sgian, waistbelt, flashes all for around $30 including shipping.

The sporran has an odd look to it. I've not seen a flap like that. Also, the bells (spheres) on the tassels have a vaguely "imported" look to them, a distinctive shape I've seen on many such sporrans.

I have previously seen this listing on ebay but unsure of the quality of the items and the sgian dubh looks like a dummy!

I do however need replacement tassels for one of my sporrans the exact colour of the tassels on this sporran so might be worth a punt for that reason alone?

Yes places make those dummy sginean, which don't interest me. But for sure I've thought about purchasing sporrans just for cannibalising parts, like an old sporran with a thrashed body but an intact cantle.

Here's a nice vintage Evening sporran with the "D" cantle. Those were usually silverplated and stamped Made In Scotland in tiny letters on the side.

In the UK so personally I'm not going to risk due to the type of fur. But it's a super low opening price and no-one has bid.

I have had my eye out for the old "bullseye" style cantles. Seen a handful recently but either they went for too much or I missed out for some reason. I was watching this one for a while - price was good - I would have paid the asking for the sporran alone but it came with a ton of stuff I had no need for (including the kilt) and could not be bothered re-listing. I actually liked the patina on this one and might have swapped out the tassels for leather ones (had I taken the plunge) to dress it down a little.

Noticed a couple of those for sale and I'm watching with interest, might be worth a punt as I'm in UK and the fur/customs thing isn't an issue.

This one is also of interest as it's a nice cantle which usually indicates a quality sporran but the leather has separated from the rear!
If purchased cheap then a good buy for the cantle, tassels and belt.

I have my eyes out for those too, but due to the seal I have to wait until one shows up in the USA.

A couple times- when they've been inexpensive- I've thought about contacting the seller and asking if they could remove the cantle and just send me that. But it's probably too involved a thing to ask, and you really need a special tiny socket wrench to remove those tiny hex-nuts, to do it right.

The one below puzzles me a bit, because it's described as a boy's size yet the size/proporton of a number of features appear to be that seen on adult sporrans:

-the boss on the flap

-the sizes of the balls on the tassels

-the size of the tab stitched on the back to hold the strap.

On child's, boy's, and youth's sporrans all of these features nearly always look too large in proportion to the overall sporran size.

If I was interested in the sporran I would contact the seller for measurements. If they come back as ordinary adult size specs it wouldn't be the first time that UK sellers have listed adult sporrans as boy's/youth's.

Not super inexpensive but still under 100 dollars is this very nice tan leather & seal fur Day sporran. This classic style has been around at least from the 1930s.

A bit more plain in style, again in brown leather with seal front, and very inexpensive, and for charity. It has the typical oval gold stamp Made In Scotland Real Leather.
