When people first started to use the term "Jonesing" about waiting for a kilt some other members asked what it meant.

So to expand on where the word came from -

The New Oxford American Dictionary has the origins from the 1960's and coming from Jones Alley in Manhattan where there was a large drug culture mostly Marijuana.

According to Cecil Adams of "The Straight Dope" newspaper article fame, the term dates from the 1920' or 30's from Greater Jones Street in New York City where many heroin addicts went to get a fix.
"The Straight Dope" fighting ignorance since 1973. (It's taking longer than we though) - https://www.straightdope.com/archive/page/17/

Six weeks and counting...where's the Scruffy Wallace?

I really and truly thought I was more mature and patient than this...seriously...no problem waiting six months for a batch of coffee, chocolate pumpkin porter to mature but...oh well, I was told about nine weeks...

Try planting trees, or laying down vintage port. That will teach you patience!

Ha! True dat, yo! Actually, my background is in landscape architecture. Guess I'm just eager to get a USAK.

Just sitting on the end of the first week of a two week ferment on a pumpkin/chocolate/coffee stout (with rum-soaked oak chips to be dry hopped in secondary ferment). That'll be bottled in another week and will sit until the end of Oct/Nov. No problem with that - I guess my patience is fickle. BUT - they do say six to ten weeks so it's coming just as advertised. I'm just glad it's arriving before my trip up north.

    Perfect Timing

Well, my first USAK (semi-traditional) arrived and the timing couldn't have been better - smack dab on my birthday. And you know, it did arrive when I was told it would - right after I ordered I asked and was told it would be about nine weeks and if exactly nine weeks didn't go by...

I tried it out for a quick walk to return a movie. Very happy with the quality, the weight (perfect the summer heat, I think), tartan (Scruffy Wallace) and the pleating - very sharp pleats, to the stripe, that feel like they'll be tough to wrinkle. This'll be my travel kilt for my trip up to NJ in a couple of weeks.

    Pics to follow...

    Thanks Rocky and Company!!
