    Hello there,

I realize it's a bit late to answer, but I'll post anyway.

The short answer is no, as a Scottish teenager from Glasgow, I can say without a doubt that wearing a tartan dress would not anger any Scottish person. We would see that as cultural appreciation. Expect many compliments, especially from men .

My only problem is, the Black Watch tartan, it's regimental. Maybe try to avoid wearing that, go with the Royal Stewart one as it purely Scottish. The Black Watch tartan has always annoyed me because of obvious reasons that I will not state, and it MIGHT annoy some other Scots, I am not saying it definitely will though.

    Enjoy the ceilidh!

The Black Watch is a universal (or government) tartan, and traditionally those without their own (or anyone) can wear it. It is appropriate for all subjects of the Queen to wear Royal Stewart.
