    Without, I hope, venturing too far into rule 11 territory, if you are going to shoot shotguns whilst wearing a waistcoat, as some kilt wearing Scots do, then the Scottish tailor will make your waistcoat without lapels. Why? The lapels impede the precise and consistant smooth mounting of the gun to the shoulder. For those that do not have these requirements then the choice is there for all to make.

    @Dollander

    Thanks! I may be vasilating on the lapel question, but I am also a fan of a properly backed waist-coat. I wear vest/waistcoats stand-alone much of the time, and the "we figured you'd just be wearing it under a coat" backs bother me. I was thrilled a few months back to find an odd vest for sale with proper material on the back. Alas, today has confirmed that with recent weight loss, I can no longer fit it. I mean, it can go on me, but I might get lost in it.

    I agree with Tarheel, the more I see, the wish list grows.

    That's a good looking waistcoat Dollander! The tweed ones with tweed backs also look pretty good with street clothes, including jeans, and are something you don't see a lot of these days. I found that the best way to be extremely well "vested" is to marry smart. I probably have about ten tweed ones that my lovely wife has made me, and at 6'4" they tend to fit me better than most store-bought vests.
