Hot weather kilting in San Diego
Howdy y'all. Been hotter than a girdle here in San Diego this weekend. It was about 91°F (~33°C) when I got out of Church (and the main sanctuary doesn't have AC  ). Though I appreciate the decrease in temperature from the low hundreds we had on Friday and Saturday.
As it is my practice to wear my kilt on Sundays, I thought I might share my current setup for hot weather.
A note on the shirt: I believe that I have read here that button down collars are not traditional in the UK but I wear one as a concession to the fact that it is hard to find short sleeved, button up, shirts here without them. That and I quite liked the pattern of green and blue check on this shirt in addition to the reasonable price of $16 at Costco.

Kilt in Church
To be honest, I never understood the whole thing of wearing a kilt to church. I noticed it is a thing in the US.

Anyhoo, my post was more about the heat. Church only came up because of the lack of air conditioning. Full disclosure, I also went to the grocery store afterwards for puff pastry. ;)

Thanks. The irony is that I often feel overdressed. Most parishioners wear slacks and short sleeved shirts or aloha shirts. This includes the older men, many of whom are retired navy officers. It's just the way people dress in Southern California.
I'm often the only one in a tie and jackets are pretty much reserved for Christmas and Easter.

I'm Scottish so I wouldn't be able to survive San Diego weather, anything more than 10 degrees Celcius is considered hot by me. The good thing about this is I can survive Scottish winters and some Americans wouldn't be able to. In fact, when it gets a little bit cold and some Americans start to shiver, I would tell them with a smile on my face "This is summer to me!".

Pretty smart there , well done. You could shorten your hose by an inch or even two inches to advantage if you wanted to let more air circulate and as a bonus your attire would look just a wee tad better.

Thanks for the advice! I will play around with the height next time. You mean increase the space between my knee and cuff correct?
