    Cut Steel Buttons

For anyone looking to add a bit of style to a formal kilt jacket you may want to look at this eBay auction for a small velour kilt jacket. The real deal in this auction are the cut steel buttons that are worth significantly more than the £40.00 price! I have a Balmoral doublet in black velvet with identical buttons and I'm in the process of having duplicates cast in sterling for a black velvet Argyle jacket. They ceased making cut steel buttons for the most part with the outbreak of WWII. My doublet was made in 1959 for a long since departed relative.
I've attached a close up of one the buttons on my doublet for a reference as they appear almost if not identical.
