    Sam Browne?

So, having been offered a continued, but transfer of Service, I now have a good quality Sam Browne (less cross strap belt, obviously) spare. What are the collective Rabbles' thoughts...... Acceptable as a day wear belt? Discuss....

I think it will work okay and from earlier discussions other members here have used them for day wear.

I have two, one in brown (brass fittings) the other black (chrome fittings) due to the Armoured Corps in Australia deciding to change leather colours in the 1980s. I haven't worn either of them with the kilt as I'm not entirely comfortable with the idea of wearing old bits of military kit with civilian dress.

I use mine. I just tuck the D rings away out of sight.

Nowt to do with kilts, though Sir Sean is a Scot...

The sharp-eyed might notice him wearing the buckle from a Sam Browne belt in The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen

I wear a Sam Browne as a day wear belt. I don't carry a sword or a pistol so the cross strap is essentially useless and remains at home.

    Do it...

I use an Instructor belt from Wilderness daily, including with kilts. Note; these are utilities and I don't work in an office but I'm not sure it'd matter. I'd wear something more appropriate for a wedding, for instance.

Kinda reminds me of that Karate Kid scene, where Ralph Machio asks Pat Morita "what (rank) belt are you?".

    "J.C. Penny... $2.99".

I think the idea of wearing a piece of former mil kit such as a belt is OK. No different than shoes or boots, and not as if its the uniform itself or Unit insignia. I think some have even de-mil mess jackets to wear with the kilt formally. I had briefly considered it, but the Armour scarlet is just a bit much to tone down.
