I can't speak to how heavy the regular Sport Kilt is. Mine is the all-cotton "comfy kilt" model, which is a relatively lightweight cotton flannel. Mine is Royal Stewart, although it is also offered in Black Watch.

I've never had a problem with chafing, but I've only run 5-10K races, so it may be an issue with longer distances. At 160K, I imagine you will run into a number of issues that I have not needed to consider.

Although the rest of my race outfit is kilt-themed, I wear Adidas running shoes, rather than brogues or boots.

There are a number of shorter kilt races around the country (the races are shorter, the kilts are normal length). Seattle's "Great Kilted Run" is probably the best known.

THat's 100 miles. That would take me a week to walk, for sure. Run? Nope. Sport Kilt has a hiking kilt that has some sort of performance fabric. You might want to look at it or just a normal sport kilt. My only complaint with them is the pricing is a la carte or nickel and dime. By the time everything is added up, I could get something better, like a casual from USA.
American by birth, human by coincidence and earthling by mistake.

It whent ok o guess. I pulled the plug at 100km my ankle had been bothering me for months before the race and at 65k it started to fail. The kilt was awesome and gave me no trouble.i will be running in it again for sure.
