    Possible Highlands Ancestry Discovered

I was reading through a genealogy book last night of my mother's family that one of her cousins (or possibly one of her dad's cousins, I forget offhand) had compiled in the late 1970s. I found that my great-great-great-great-grandmother's maiden name was McComb, which a little digging around online revealed is one of the septs of Clan MacThomas (though noted Irish genealogist Edward MacLysaght says could be a branch or sept of MacKinnon) and in Ireland is disproportionately concentrated in the Ulster region.

My McComb ancestor was born in 1791 in Maryland, United States and I don't have names for her parents, so I still don't know where her family came from, but there's at least a chance I have actual highlands ancestry.
    Verbing weirds language.
