    Some cultural insight perhaps, Jock.
You may be right Bill, but I have no idea, or interest.

Returning to the topic, I like your bonnet Colin. Though I have black or brown hats and caps, my first color change would be blue. The total of your ensemble comes together with your new cap.

A wee observation Colin. Your bonnet needs some serious grievous and violent physical treatment to make it look even vaguely happy on your head! It just looks far too new! Give it a good kicking-------the bonnet NOT the head------ then drown it for a couple of days and then kick it again for a few hours. There is nothing worse in Highland kilted Scots eyes than having your kit----particularly the bonnet---- looking too new!! Bad form, my dear chap, very bad form.

    Jock,
In the American military we avoid washing the luck out of our headgear. We also value 'salty' uniforms. (old, soft & faded) Similar thought process???

Some time ago, Jock posted an interesting thread about his new Balmoral, which you can see here: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...almoral-57667/

Even without all the photos, it’s still a good read!

Something like that Steve, I think. Someone on this website, once aptly described the the battered bonnet look, as "a fifty mission crush" style.
