Well met and welcome new friend. Many folks that are new to wearing kilts are pensive at first. I recommend just putting on the kilt and wear it around inside the house when the notion strikes. We had one member step into his back yard (privacy fence) and did some gardening. He later found himself in the front yard without thinking about the kilt. He now makes trips to the store with nary a thought.
You will find your own speed and reasons to wear your kilt. Glad to have you with us.

Thank you all for the welcome!
I just have to decide how much weight I need to lose before I spend the money on a kilt. (I don't want to spend the money on a kilt and then lose enough weight that it no longer fits.) I saw a picture on Wikipedia of Edward VII of England in a kilt. I don't think I weigh as much as His Majesty, but I really wish I could shed a few pounds. We'll see...
As some folks wear more than one tartan (not at the same time), I considered also buying a kilt in the tartan of one of the other clans in my ancestry, but wouldn't you know it? Clan MacAlpin's tartan isn't woven in PV either, as far as I can tell. Too bad. I like the tartan.
I guess I just need to be patient.
