Kilt hose advice

Thanks for bringing this up, I honestly hadn't thought about the colour of the leather next to the jacket... I guess black regimental sporran and strap will be the way to go. He'll be wearing a waistcoat, so no belt.

In normal day to day kilted events mixing leather colours does not raise a comment. For what it is worth, Prince Charles regularly does it. Nevertheless you have an important event in the offing, so perhaps matching leathers might be worth consideration?

I don't know if it is "subdued" enough for you, but I really like the maroon/claret hose.
