Just discovered this thread. USA Kilts and Sport Kilts sew logo patches on their kilts where a pin normally goes, so there is that precedent.
I'Ve never had a desire to sew things on a kilt, however Iif I did it would probably be large regimental crest cloth patches and not a division patch. I found mine on ebay. These patches aren't actual military items. My Second Infantry combat patch is probably too big, it would overpower the kilt. Perhaps a Follow Me patch would be suitable as it is fairly low key and in a kilt-ish color.
Current regulation doesn't allow a mix or match option, it's either one or the other. Forty five or fifty years ago you could walk into any university student union building and see a whole bunch of guys in their as-issued field jackets complete with patches, even though regs clearly forbade it.
Wearing a no longer current item on a kilt might be more acceptable. Placing modern Infantry crossed 1975 musket insignia might draw a stickler's ire, but using Spanish-American war era crossed Krag rifles might pass muster.
It's up to the individual to decide what military ornaments to wear with a kilt -- until he encounters a really picky Seargeant Major. The armed forces can still come down hard on former members in some situations.

Looks good to me. You can also get the US Army eagle for your bonet from USAKilts. Makes a great combination.
