A man wishing to join the army could do so providing he passed certain physical tests and was willing to enlist for a number of years. The recruit had to be taller than5 feet 3 inches and aged between 18 and 38 (although he could not be sent overseas until he was aged 19).

There was also apparently a minimum chest size of 34'' - underage recruitment peaked in 1915, as the number of adult volunteers fell and before conscription was introduced, the youngest authenticated British soldier in WWI, Sidney Lewis, joined up at 12 and saw action when he was 13 and VCs were awarded to two 15 year olds (Thomas Flynn and Andrew Fitzgibbon) as well as the better known 16 year old navy rating Jack Cornwell.

According to the IWM* site at the link below:
"The British government had originally said that no one under 19 years of age would be sent overseas to fight. In April 1918 they lowered the age to 18 after suffering a near-defeat on the Western Front"

I do hope if they show Highland soldiers that they applied the correct colours.

I say this because there's a series of WWI still photos which have been colourised incorrectly, specifically the sporrans, tartans, hat dicing, and hose.

Also here's an incorrectly colourised Crimean veterans photo

That aside, the film seems wondeful and I do want to see it!
