    Exactly Jock, the jacket I have is also very difficult to photograph but the colour is unlike any tweed I've ever seen before including my mid-century brown Harris Tweed.

    I sent a photo of the label to Tim at House of Labrahn and in no time at all came back with the following information:

    Samuel Duncan, tailor and army clothier,
    39 Frederick street ; Lived at a house, 12 Jordan Lane.
    Listed in the post office directory books 1894-1905

    I am sorry about that Steve. Although from memory, I am not at all sure that I said what you have said I said.

    I was born in 1940 so that is as far as my memory goes, I did say, in my first post in this thread, that I recall seeing that hue and that type of cloth at about that time and I did say that I doubted that any jacket that I saw was new and I also said that I thought some of the jackets that I saw could well have started life before 1900. It was that shade of cloth that McMurdo’s new acquisition has that I was meaning,not a post 1940 hue that might well compare with your jacket. Any way, I am sorry if I have not been as clear as I intended.
