Red face Hi, I'm GayKiltic and I'm into Hiking in the Kilt!

    Hi, everyone!

I am a new member and on the forum as GayKiltic.

I am the facilitator for a group of gay men who promote the Celtic kilt tradition and hike in the kilt.

We have a website/blog dedicated to the Gay Kiltics Hikers and Backpackers (GKHB) which I shall be happy to share with you on private request to my email at I don't feel it would be right to publicly post the URL on a dedicated and moderated site like MarktheScot.

I have started making my own kilt(s) and have just finished a very satisfactory (for a beginner) knife-pleated kilt in a flannel fabric. I used flannel for my prototype/practice kilt because it had the right pattern and was inexpensive fabric. My next one will be a wool-blend tartan and box-pleats.

    A third in-process is a saffron-colored cotton-linen utility kilt.

It's great fun and a great exercise in which to learn humility the fast way

Looking forward to hearing from fellow kilters!

Well met and welcome GK. It seems you are way ahead of many new members (me included) in that you have constructed kilts. Good for you there. I hope you will share some of the difficulties and gains of hiking while kilted as the subject comes up time and again.

Glad to have you with us and an open invitation to any of your group that wishes to join us is offered.

Welcome from the other side of the Atlantic. I'm a Scotsman living in the English midlands. Good luck with the kilt-making - it's something I've never dared to attempt!

    Welcome!!

I am quite impressed that you would make your kilts. Do you prefer two buckles or three?

My own kilted hikes are limited to half mile strolls with my mastiffs. Alas, my knees have long since protested at more lengthy walks.

    Welcome to the forum!!
