    Interesting necktie

Spotted this tie at a thrift shop. It’s made by Pendleton for Disneyland (marked on the back). It also said “Frontierland display” so it was probably for employees there.

Does this look like any established tartan or is it just a generic “plaid.”

Thought it looked like dress Gordon but it’s clearly not when compared side by side.

I would guess fashion tartan without a connection to any clan. But it sure would make a fine kilt for special occasions.

I expect that this is the case since it was made by pendleton rather than a scottish manufacturer.

That tie is a cool Disneyland collectable, the tartan aside.

Because Pendleton Woolen Mills operated a shop in Frontierland in Disneyland for many years.

The shop's staff worked for Pendleton rather than for Disney.

I loved that shop! For one thing they had a selection of elegant silver Scottish-made kilt pins. And lovely tartan travel rugs/blankets in a range of actual tartans. And beautiful tweed jackets and hats.

The "Frontierland display" is interesting. I would assume it was on display, perhaps in the windows.

True that something like an ex-display item could end up in Company D (the employee store).

If you want it, I'd be happy to pick it up for you if they still have it. It was only $5.

The tartan looks like it was inspired by, but not identical to, the Dress Gordon tartan to me.

I stopped by the goodwill where I saw it today but it was gone unfortunately. Sorry about that.
