Welp fellas, after all this debate on material weights.... it might be for naught.

I've decided my first kilt will be a casual kilt from Scotweb. It's the least expensive kilt tailored to my measurements that I can get in a clan tartan. My experience with the casual kilt will inform future plans for a more substantial garment and investment. I do truly appreciate all of the opinions and experiences shared above.

    Jock,
I just checked the Clan Cameron Museum online gift shop. As of today you can neckties and scarfs in all three Cameron tartans, including Lochiel's, for £18 and £19 respectively.

Perhaps the family visit the museum regularly?

I suspect-----I don't know----- that Lochiel has given in to the inevitable. I still would not bank on getting a cup of tea from him though, if you are "wearing" his tartan.
