    New Kilter on the Block

Greetings, I have been standing on the side lines for about 6 months, gleaning a lot of valuable information, and figure there is no time like the present to jump on the board. Thanks to the DNA phenomenon I found I have a 42% link to Scotland and located two brothers I never knew existed (that's a long story in of itself). Needless to say, there are many of my new found relatives, cousins, nieces, etc., who hold their Scottish roots near and dear and celebrate their heritage in the appropriate fashion; kilts are certainly the order of the day. As such I purchased my first, await the arrival of my second any day, and wear it at least once or twice a week. I still have questions now and then on the do's and don'ts when it comes to traditional highland dress, but more often than not the answers are readily available on this forum. It is clear, as Steve writes, "the more seasoned members will often offer help and assistance". I look forward to joining in on the conversation.

    Tom

Welcome and well done on finding two brothers. Sounds like you have embraced a very enjoyable “do” in wearing your kilt often.

Welcome from South Carolina. I too found my Scottish heritage through DNA testing. I was adopted at birth so I have no information about my biological parents. I was adopted in to the Nicholson family which held great pride in their Scottish heritage. So I adopted it based on my adopted family. Recently did DNA testing and found 62% of my DNA comes from a Scottish heritage. Another 30% from Scandinavia.
